Classroom Management Plan

I always strive to have my classroom be a space where my students will always feel comfortable in. A positive and supportive work environment is essential for student growth, as well as maintaining a routine. Having an organized routine only benefits the student further for full engagement throughout the class period.

In order to achieve this, students are asked to abide by these 3 rules.

  1. Be Respectful-

    • Students will be kind and treat others how they would want to be treated. They will treat supplies and materials with care and listen while others are speaking.

  2. Be Resourceful-

    • Students will use their time wisely and be productive. They will think outside of the box and be creative.

  3. Be Responsible-

    • Students will be mindful and accountable of their own actions and consequences. They will be prepared for class and are ready to learn. Students will always clean up after themselves.

If these rules are broken, students will be given a verbal warning so they have a chance to reevaluate and reflect on their actions to make self-adjustments. If issues arise, I will have a private conversation with the student to discuss why they are not meeting the expectations and how they can meet them. Lastly, if issues still arise, I will contact the principal and make a phone call/letter home to the parent/guardian.

  • This is my reward system in my classroom. I refer it to the students as, “The Game Board.” Each of the colored tags you see on the spaces is all of the classes I teach. I give each grade level a color and each teacher a class code. For example, all of kindergarten classes will be in the color red, all of first grade will be in the color orange, and so on in the order of the rainbow. All of the class codes start with what grade the students are in and the first letter or two of their teachers name. For example, if a 3rd grade teacher’s name is Smith, the class code would be 3S (or 3Sm if another 3rd grade teacher’s name starts with S).

  • The student’s earn spaces based on how many rules they follow. There are 3 rules in my classroom and they spell out the word ART. A stands for Always listen for directions, R stands for Respect the room and clean up, and T stands for Treat others kindly. If the class can follow all 3 rules, they earn 3 spaces on the board. If a class misses a week of art because of a holiday or event, I give them double the spaces the following week.
