Student Displays/Art Shows NYE Display 2022. For this display, each k-5 was given a triangle template and was asked to create a background for their triangle using their choice of colored pencils, crayons, markers, oil pastels, or sharpie. After they created their background, they were to write their NY resolution/goal over it. As they walk the halls, they will be reminded of their resolution/goal they made for themselves. The sign at the bottom reads, "These Advanced Art students learned all about an artist named Chuck Close who specializes in portraits using a grid technique. They were tasked to create a portrait (of themselves, a friend/family member, a celebrity, etc.) using oil pastels and the grid technique that Chuck Close uses. They learned all about different oil pastel techniques-- from blending to sgraffito-- and applied those same techniques to their portraits. Enjoy! Can you guess who some of them are?" It reads, "These 7th and 8th grade Art students learned all about Zentangles, which are a "relaxing" and "de-stressing" form of art. They created their artwork by first choosing the silhouette of an image. Then, they drew that silhouette onto their final paper using a grid technique. Lastly, they filled in (or around) their image with Zentangle patterns. Enjoy" View fullsize (Fall 2020) Here is the sign I created for the 2nd graders Singerie Monkey project display! It reads, "Ms. Fleischmann's second grade class learned all about a new type of art, 'Singerie,' which is when an artist draws monkeys acting like humans. They also learned about the artists that created Singerie like Pieter van der Borcht and his son Jan Brueghel the Elder." View fullsize (Fall 2020) Here is the full display of the singerie monkeys my second graders created! When they were done creating their monkeys, they were asked to create a flower using markers to attach to the mural. View fullsize Here is a close up of the 3rd Graders Kusama Sculptures! Ms. Fleischmann's 3rd grade art classroom made their own Pumpkin Infinity Rooms inspired by Yayoi Kusama's artwork. The reflective background helps make it look like there's an infinite amount of pumpkins!" Local artists and art students k-12 are able to submit an artwork of an animal, using any medium they wish, for a prize. This particular student happened to be one of my high school students. I taught this student how to use oil paint for the first time and yet her artwork was accepted into an art show! How cool! When planning for the students return, I created a mask to put over the school's mascot-- a cardinal! This event is where all of the art programs at BGSU create their own activity for the community to do. Since the theme for the event was "magic," all of the art programs had to create an activity related to magic. The Art Education students and I came up with the idea to have children create a magic wand!
