Andy Warhol Soup Cans.

In this lesson, kindergarten and first grade students learned about the artist, Andy Warhol, and his love for pop art and tomato soup. These students also learned about the elements and principles of art (such as shape, color, line, form, and contrast) to recreate their favorite soup can like Warhol. In addition, they were able to learn new painting techniques such as wax resist (watercolor over crayon) and work on their fine motor skills by tracing over their pencil lines with crayon and using an oval template to make the top of their soup can. Finally, they practiced their vocabulary and handwriting skills by writing out the name of their favorite soup onto their soup can drawing.
