The Color Monster.

 

I found this lesson on Deep Space Sparkle, but in summary, my 2nd and 3rd grade students read the book, “The Color Monster,” by Anna Llenas. After first reading the book, we reviewed as a class the summary of the book and went over what each color represents as an emotion (red is angry, green is calm, pink is love, etc.). Through this lesson, they learned about symbolization in color/line, a “wax resist” technique, and developed their cutting/gluing skills. This was a great lesson for SEL (social emotional learning).
