Here are some of the student works made from this lesson.

Aboriginal Art!

These fourth grade students learned about Australian art and culture and analyzed various artworks that feature aboriginal art, which is native to Australia. These students were able to experience how aboriginal art is made while creating their own interpretation of aboriginal art.

Summary:

1. Students will analyze various aboriginal artworks from Australia that feature animals that are native to Australia. They will describe what they see in the artworks and discuss the purpose of aboriginal art and what the symbols mean.

2. Students will identify symbolism, pattern, aboriginal art, and design and create their own aboriginal art by drawing their favorite Australian animal and designing an aboriginal pattern around it.

3. Students will relate Australian art and culture to their own lives by answering reflective questions on a worksheet.
