These first grade students learned about their local zoo and analyzed selected artworks from Zack Mclaughlin, as we talked about the birds that are in the zoo. These students were able to identify different types of birds in the zoo and create them out of recyclable materials, along with learning about texture and collage.

Summary:

1. Students will analyze works of art featuring birds from the zoo by Zack Mclaughlin. (Day 1)

2. Students will create their own version of birds out of various materials. (Day 1, 2)

3. Students will reflect on what they could have done differently in their creations. (Day 2)
