“Singerie” Monkeys!

Students will learn about their local zoo and describe works of art from the genre of art “Singerie” as we talk about the monkey’s that are in their local zoo. Students will be able to make a monkey using oil pastels and construction paper, while learning about emotions.

Summary:

 1. Students will describe Singerie artworks that feature monkeys. 

2. Students will demonstrate their knowledge of creating symbols and imagery to express an emotion.

3. Students will recognize the meanings of certain imagery and symbols to create emotions.

After the students made their monkeys, I asked them to fill out this form describing what emotion their monkey was feeling and why.

It says, “My monkey is feeling really cute because she have to go to a cute contest because she was invited and she is good at being really cute.”
